Welcome to Student Transitions and Family Programs

The Office of Student Transitions and Family Programs coordinates programs and services that provide diverse opportunities and a set of shared experiences and common information for new students. Student Transitions and Family Programs facilitates meaningful connections that aid students in personal development, encourage student responsibility, achieve academic integration, and build community as students transition into university life.

EmBark 2022 Dates Announced

Register for EmBark Orientation!

EmBark Orientation occurs in two parts. Students will come in June for Part 1 and then again in August for Part 2.

Incoming Transfer students will attend a 1-day June EmBark session on June 10th, 2022.

Transfer Student Schedule for June EmBark Orientation

Incoming First-Year students will attend one 2-day June EmBark session. The options for First-Year June EmBark sessions are June 13th-14th, 16th-17th, 20th-21st, or 23rd-24th.

First-Year Student Schedule for June EmBark Orientation

In August, students will move to campus 5 days before classes begin to attend August EmBark: August 10th-14th. Registration will open in early April for these EmBark sessions.

Family EmBark Orientation

Register for Family EmBark Orientation!

Family EmBark Orientation sessions will take place concurrently to the Student EmBark sessions.  Family EmBark sessions are optional for family members and supporters of incoming first-year students to attend and will contain specific information for family members on how they can support and encourage their students as they make the transition to UNC Asheville.  The cost to attend Family EmBark is:

$50.00 for adults ages 18 and up

$25.00 for siblings ages 12-17

$Free for siblings ages 11 and under

The Family EmBark Orientation fee includes meals during the day, materials given to family members during the program, and the staffing of the event.
