The Office of Transition and Parent Programs coordinates programs and services that provide diverse opportunities and a set of shared experiences and common information for new students. Transition and Parent Programs facilitates meaningful connections that aid students in personal development, encourage student responsibility, achieve academic integration, and build community as students transition into university life.
EmBark Orientation Registration Now Open!
EmBark Orientation is a fun, informative program for new students and is required for all first-year and transfer students.
Transfer EmBark Orientation
Transfer EmBark Orientation will take place on Friday, June 14th.
First-Year EmBark Orientation
First-Year EmBark Orientation sessions will take place on June 17-18; June 20-21; 24-25; 27-28. All incoming first-year students are required to attend one of these sessions.
Parent and Family EmBark Orientation
Parent EmBark Orientation provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions and to get to know all the ins and outs of UNC Asheville. It is highly recommended - especially if this is your first student attending a liberal arts university. However, attendance is not required. Nevertheless, we invite you to participate in EmBark Orientation so that you can receive a solid foundation in understanding UNC Asheville and how it works.
Parent and Family EmBark Orientation Registration Early registration for Parent/Family EmBark closes one week before the session begins. We will have on-site registration for all parents and family members who want to attend available at the same cost.
Pre-RendezBlue 2019 Registration Now Open!
Mark your calendars for Pre-RendezBlue 2019: August 11-15!
Held in August every year before the beginning of classes, new students are invited to get a head start on their UNC Asheville education by delving into the many aspects of their new community. pre-rendezblue offers special-interest programs that showcase Asheville. Participation in pre-rendezblue allows students to move in early to the residence halls and meet fellow students and staff who share their interests.

We welcome any company or organization who is interested in participating in our Sample Asheville event that will take place during our EmBark Orientation. During Sample Asheville, your company/organization will get time to speak with incoming students and family members during a fair setting. If you are interested in participating in Sample Asheville and would like to be a sponsor and partner with the Office of Transition and Parent Programs, please complete our registration form and then submit your payment via our Eventbrite site.
