Preparing for embark Orientation

Important Reminder about the OAR (Online Advising and Registration) Course

Students will receive an email sent exclusively to their UNC Asheville email account 3-5 business days after their deposit is processed by Admissions with specific instructions regarding the OAR course. Email onestop@unca.edu with OAR Course questions.

As an incoming student, you must complete the OAR course as part of your orientation requirements. Delaying your completion of OAR will ultimately impact the courses you will be registered for in the upcoming semester, so make sure you complete the OAR course as soon as possible.

Freshmen

All freshmen must complete the OAR course to receive their upcoming semester schedule by the time they arrive for embark Orientation. Freshmen course schedules are built only after the OneStop Office has confirmed successful completion of the OAR course. Once the OneStop Office has confirmed your completion of OAR, a OneStop adivsor will build your course schedule based on your academic interests (which you will indicate in the OAR course) and course availability. Courses will fill quickly, so it is in your best interest to complete the OAR course as soon as possible.

Transfer Students

Once you successfully complete the OAR course and the OneStop Office has confirmed this, you will receive an email with next steps regarding the registration process for the upcoming semester.

1. Prepare for tuition and fee payment. The upcoming semester bill will be sent to your UNC Asheville email account, so check it regularly. Review the Student Accounts website to learn more about important dates and reminders associated with managing your student account.

2. Submit your final transcripts from other institutions, as well as AP/IB scores as soon as possible. The address to send this information to is:

You are welcome to also bring an official copy of your transcripts with you to embark Orientation. However, make sure your transcripts are sealed in an official envelope from your previous institution in order for it to be considered official.

3. Check the Frequently Asked Questions page to learn about what you need to bring to embark, what to expect, etc. This page will help you prepare for the day. The more you prepare for embark, the better your experience will be!

4. If you qualify to park on campus, review the guidelines and pre-register for your parking pass before classes begin. Freshmen are not allowed to park on campus. Other students need to visit the Transportation & Parking website to view available parking options.
